I’ve Got Your Back by Lynn Autry

God's got your back

Do you have one of those days when it feels like everything is coming against you? It may not be just a day or a period in your life? The day may have become a season in your life. Maybe you are hit with the bad mom guilt trip. The children haven’t turned out the way you had planned when they were little. Their issues seem like you are partly to blame. You maybe are hit with the bad wife guilt trip. The finances aren’t enough to meet all the needs and wants of the family. If you are like me, you are being hit with the bad pastor’s wife guilt trip. Some people have made it clear, you do not live up to their expectations. Maybe you are hit with the bad mother-in-law guilt trip. Children or in-laws have made you feel like you are the reason the relationship is failing.

Do you need some relief? Do you need to take some of this “It’s all my fault” off of your shoulders? Have I got the verse for you. God tells Joshua, “No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. I will be with you, just as I was with Moses. I will not leave you or forsake you.”(Joshua 1:5)  Joshua needed some reassurance. He was dealing with enemies outside of the camp and carnal people inside the camp.

God was reassuring Joshua that no one was going to be able to rise up against him. No one was going to be able to gain against him. God had Joshua’s back. He was always going to be there to watch over him. God had watched over Moses in Egypt when he was just a baby. God had watched over Moses when Pharaoh was pursuing him. God had watched over him in the wilderness. God was watching over Joshua when he made a decision to tell the truth about Canaan. God was watching over him when he became a leader of the Israelites. God was watching over him now. God was going to watch over Joshua until he died.

This is so comforting to us. God has been watching over us since before we were born. He has watched over us through the growing up years. He has watched over us in our marriage. He has been there through every birth and every funeral. He has been there to rejoice with us in the joys and comfort us through the tears. God is there to reassure us that nothing we go through or nobody we come against is going to defeat us. He has our back. When our children do not make the right decisions, he has our back. When the money isn’t enough, He has our back. When you do not live up to someone’s expectations, He has your back. When you are not an award winning mother-in-law. He has your back.

God has proven it over and over again to you and me. He has our back. He doesn’t take a rest break. He is never unavailable. He will always be there to protect you. He will never leave you when you are a pain to be with or great to be with. He will always be there to have your back on  “It’s all your fault” periods or days in your life. On days when it may get overwhelming and you are not winning awards, just remember God is there standing saying “All your life, no one will be able to hold out against you. In the same way I was with Moses, I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you.”(Joshua 1:5) “Don’t worry, I’ve got this. I’ve got your back.”
